In Transition (2012)

In Transition series of photographs is a site-specific work within the October Salon (Good Life, 2012) curated by Branko Dimitrijevic and Mika Hannuka. The photographs' interior spaces show various rooms of the former Geodetic Institute building before its restoration for the exhibition purpose. The depicted scenes show traces of many different past uses: a bank, an office, an Italian movie set, often in the same image. Additionally, the artist collages a group of white geometric "blocks" in the photographs. For the installation, a set of vitrines found on the site are modified and used as display units. The artist makes arrangements that look like scenes in anticipation of an event that is yet to happen. Bizumic's approach presents the viewer with the act of looking itself, emphasising observation as a labyrinthian, continuous process.
